AN EASTER WITNESS FROM Dr. Jim Donley, Grand Knight of our Local Knights of Columbus Throughout the Easter Season I am asking different members of our Christ the King Church family to share with us how they have experienced the resurrection of Jesus in their lives. These witnesses of faith will be shared in this bulletin space. This week we are blessed to hear a word of witness from the Knights of Columbus and Dr. Jim Donley, our Grand Knight, as we celebrate Knights of Columbus Sunday this weekend at our Masses. This Knights of Columbus Sunday is a call to remember all of the deceased members of our local Fr. Gerald Glahn Council #1132. The most recent members of our council to die are Bernie Rich and Sherrell Calhoun. These names will be a part of our spoken Prayers of the Faithful at each of our Masses this weekend. We also remember, too, all of those members of our Council #1132 who have gone before us marked with the sign of Easter Faith. Each of these men served our Christ the King Church family with grace, and we will be forever thankful for their love of God. Following the 10:30am Mass this Sunday, we will also celebrate the exemplification of new members to our local Knights of Columbus Council. We invite any male member of our church 18 years and older, who is practicing and living their Catholic Faith to join the Knights and assist in the work of service that our council shares with their family and our Church. We invite you to avail yourself to the many spiritual gifts that the Knights of Columbus has to offer. Your participation with like-minded men will help to evangelize your own faith in Christ so that you can help evangelize others in their faith to Christ. In a recent conversation with Fr. Carl, our pastor, he noted that whenever he has called upon the Knights for help, they have most always responded through sharing their time, talent and treasure. They are involved in most every aspect of our parish. Either with organizational programs, helping with events and supporting those events that in turn help to move our parish family forward in faith together. This Easter let us live more fully our Resurrected faith in Jesus by joining this group of like-minded men who are not afraid to live out their faith. Particularly, our Knights live the faith through the Credo of Charity, Unity and Fraternity. Through living this Credo our Knights worship and pray together giving witness to God and His Son Jesus Christ who is at center of our Church. - Jim Donley

WISH ONE ANOTHER A HAPPY EASTER A blessed and Happy Easter to you! You may be reading this bulletin in the church pew on Easter Sunday, online, by email, on Facebook, or maybe it was mailed to you at home. What a joy it is to write this greeting and share with you a very Happy Easter. Our hearts and our souls need to both hear and say these words of Happy Easter to one another. It is at Easter that we celebrate the joy of the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the fact that He triumphed over the darkness of sin and death bringing to us the light of a new day. The word Easter is a strange word and it is hard to pinpoint the true origin of its meaning. At best we know it comes from the German language and means dawn. When we think of the dawn we think of morning and a new day. It is from the east that the sun rises each day and shines down upon our earth to bring it light, to warm its soil, and to bring all of creation to life. My encouragement, as we share in this Easter Day of 2024, is that we go out of our way to wish another a Happy Easter. Everyone needs the dawn of God’s light to shine on their lives. In your visits with parents and grandparents, brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, friends and strangers, wish everyone that you see a Happy Easter. Moreover, as you share this greeting believe that you are helping to lift their hearts through the true Son of God, Jesus Christ. Wishing another a Happy Easter may be the real power that they need to come out of the darkness of their lives and share in the glorious light of an empty tomb and glorious cross of Christ. Again, I wish you all a very Happy Easter, In Peace, Fr. Carl McCarthy, Pastor PASTOR ANNOUNCEMENT I want to take this moment to announce to the parish that I will be leaving Christ the King Catholic Church as your pastor. The date for the move is set for Tuesday, June 11, 2024. At that time I will be moving to Precious Blood Catholic Church in Owensboro KY, where I will serve as pastor. Bishop Medley has named Fr. Steve Hohman as the new pastor at Christ the King, effective the same day, June 11, 2024. Fr. Steve will be moving from St. Elizabeth, Clarkson KY and St. Paul, Leitchfield KY. There he has served as pastor of two parishes and a Catholic School. I have spoken with Fr. Steve and he tells me to share with you that he is looking forward to meeting you and sharing in your lives. The news of this change of assignments came from Bishop Medley in an initial conversation that I had with him on Monday, March 18 and was made formal through a letter of appointment on Wednesday, March 20. In closing this announcement, I want to thank each of you for the hope, faith and love that we have shared together since I came to Christ the King on June 13, 2018. In the next few weeks I look forward to sharing my personal gratitude with as many of you as I can. Please pray for me as I pray for you and all the good work that God is doing at Christ the King. Together, we have so much to be proud of as we have been totally on mission. I would also ask that we pray for Fr. Steve and the communities where he has been serving as he takes leave from them and moves to Madisonville. May the love of God fill us all with the hope and joy of the resurrection. If no one has told you today, “I love you all.” Fr. Carl McCarthy
